5E Gallery Hosts Saturday Nite Cipher,
Fundraising Campaign to Support New Location

When one door closes, another door opens.
5E Gallery, a nonprofit visual art and hip-hop gallery located in the historic Corktown neighborhood of Detroit, will host its fifth installment of Saturday Nite Cipher on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 9:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. In addition, 5E has announced a fundraising campaign to celebrate the rebirth of its new, larger location.

Saturday Nite Cipher is an ongoing mixer series that draws artists and crowds from all over metro Detroit for an opportunity to network, express and keep Detroit artists motivated. Local performances will include saxophonist and emcee Saxappeal, B. Williams, a direct protégé of Grammy and Billboard super producer Michael J. Powell, and singer Gwenation with special invited guests and dignitaries including Congressman John Conyers to support 5E.

“I look forward to unifying our community for a great cause to keep 5E afloat,” said Founder of 5E Gallery and Detroit Young Professional Vanguard Winner, Sicari “DJ Sicari” Ware. “The gallery has become a melting pot for Detroit and a home away from home for hip-hop culture from around the globe and I hope to continue our creative movement in our new spacious location.”

Founded by DJ Sicari, 5E serves as an outlet for Detroit artists and musicians to showcase their talents. Through Sicari’s leadership, he encourages an understanding of contemporary art and hip-hop culture by the diverse local, national, and international audiences that it serves.

Past 5E Gallery supporters included: Detroit City Council President Charles Pugh, Detroit City Council Members: Kwame Kenyatta, Ken Cockrel, Brenda Jones, actor Wesley Snipes, Professor Griff of Public Enemy, hip-hop group Slum Village, singer and songwriter Dwele and the who’s who of Detroit’s hip-hop community.

To make donations, please visit the 5E Web site or come support the Saturday Nite Cipher fundraiser on Saturday, April 24, 2010.
