NEXT WEEK: Glenn Barr Solo Show @ 323East Royal Oak - Wed Oct 28th wsg/ The Readies

I first noticed the art of Detroiter Glenn Barr in Orbit Magazine

He did a cool weekly advert sketch for Dave's Comics
and I always ripped through the now defunct detroit rag
to find it before even thinking about ready any of the articles
Comics of space chicks with ray guns in future cars kick ass
if you have this comic please email
I heard about a new art gallery opening up in Royal Oak called CPOP
and was having trouble finding the time to get over and check it out
partly because I was moving back out to Los Angeles and getting ready for the trip
As we were hitting the road (Uhaul packed with truck on the back)
I didn't want to leave town without checking out CPOP

so we double parked the huge van in the street near the gallery
and went inside to see what CPOP was all about

After the short tour we were heading for the door and almost gone when I was convinced by Rick Manore to purchase a Glenn Barr litho and comic called "Hot Rails to Hell" and "HEEP"
Thanks a million Rick!

Dirty Show 8
since that day I have had an eagle eye for Glenn Barr artwork
snatching up anything I could afford
whenever possible
This guy is a badass - one of my all time favorites and I have always looked to his artwork as a way of returning home to Detroit whenever I was not able to be here in the motorcity
Souvenir of Sadness
